so, you know those amazing frosted sugar cookies that are all over the internets now? Yeeeeah, I’m not good at those. My hand has not mastered the steadiness required. BUT! I CAN make these! This is just cookie cutters and candy melts- yessss! This is my version of a super rad sugar cookie and it is perfectly suited for Valentine’s Day because you can personalize the heck out of ‘em.
Ya do it like this:
Make your favorite hold-it’s-shape-cookie-dough recipe and tint it with your favorite colors. (I used this recipe with success)
Roll them out. I’m a fan of rolling the dough between two sheets of parchment paper before putting it in the fridge.
And then get to cutting! I used letter cookie cutters and hearts. I wanted to make giant banner cookies so I made a little template and cut around it using a paring knife. Place your words, then leave them empty or fill them with a complimentary color. You can also place letters or shapes on top of the dough for a 3d effect.
Then bake and enjoy! I dipped some of the cookies partway in candy melts. And one of my FAVORITE outcomes was the “yes” lips cookies. I cut the letters out of the cookie shape and baked them empty, then I dipped the back in the candy melts and the color oozed up through the crevices- soooo rad! These lips cookies were my families favorite and I’m totally going to have to make another batch today because they are necessary for the giant Valentine’s bash that my four year old is throwing for us tomorrow.
See?! Ah, I love them! All of the heart eyes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
Here’s to love folks, all of love. Love that is felt and love that is given. You might not be receiving the love that you want, but you can be the giver of love that someone else desperately needs.
